Internal Audit and Compliance

SHEQ Enterprises Pty Ltd Internal Audit Services are driven by a comprehensive, proven methodology executed by experienced and certified professionals. Our Internal Audit Methodology is risk-based, and tailored to an organization’s specific requirements. It is intended to provide our practitioners with specific, detailed guidance through every phase of an audit (e.g., planning, execution, reporting), as well as, carry out the primary responsibilities of today’s Internal Audit function (e.g., assessing organizational risks, multi-year planning, Audit Committee reporting). SHEQ Enterprise’s Internal Audit Methodology is aligned with COSO and encompasses operational, compliance, and financial reporting components.

Our Internal Audit Methodology also incorporates auditing practices commonly followed by public accounting firms and suggested by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and toolkit:

  • ·         Audit programs (business process, ERP and technology specific)

  • ·         Industry-specific control libraries to benchmark best practices, complete with control objectives, risks and assertions (What can go wrong?)

  • ·         Training materials (presentations, reference guides, manuals)

  • ·         Audit software (ACL, tools)

  • ·         Templates (working papers, reports, management presentations)

  • ·         Project management templates and tools (status reports, trackers, MS project)

Process & Controls Documentation

Using the risk assessment, we can help you prepare your Section 404 documentation of the identified processes and control activities that are in scope and identify the key controls. As part of the key control selection effort, we will focus on ensuring that the scope of the key controls addresses those processes and activities which cover internal controls over financial reporting and not operational or compliance activities, which are outside the scope of Section 404. We will focus on selecting key controls that are, wherever possible, automated and preventive versus manual and detective.

Controls Remediation

Fixing control design and operating effectiveness gaps often requires changing existing processes and technologies. To be successful, a change agent must understand how to gain acceptance by the organisation for the change, as well as, know the many processes and technology alternatives to consider. Unlike a typical auditor, our professionals are capable of helping your organisation implement new practices and modernise your technologies.

We identify, track, and report any internal control deficiencies. We will coordinate any necessary remediation activities related to the correction of specific control deficiencies and prepare policies and procedures, designing new processes and controls. We provide guidance on remediation during the documentation and testing effort
